Zum 50. Todestag von Igor Strawinsky am 6. April, präsentiert Sony Classical die erste Zusammenstellung sämtlicher Aufnahmen dieses zentralen Komponisten des 20. Jahrhunderts, dirigiert von einem der Großen – Leonard Bernstein. Es begann Ende der vierziger Jahre mit Auszügen aus der Geschichte vom Soldaten und dem Oktett, dann setzte Bernstein mit seiner fulminanten Sacre-Einspielung 1958 mit den frisch übernommenen New York Philharmonic einen bis heute gültigen Markstein. Es folgten legendäre Versionen von Petrushka, der Feuervogel-Suite, dem raren Concertino für Klavier und Bläser (mit Seymour Lipkin), der Pulcinella-Suite, Oedipus Rex und der Psalmensymphonie, sowie 1972 das spektakuläre Remake des Sacre, diesmal mit dem London Symphony Orchestra. Ergänzend enthalten in der 6 CD Edition ist die Einführung Bernsteins zu Petruschka von 1970
