Spektakuläre Westernfilme und unvergessliche Momente von und mit Maestro Morricone persönlich: Ennio Morricone komponierte über 400 Filmmusiken für Kino und Fernsehen sowie über 100 klassische Werke. Er ist nicht nur für seine ikonischen Western-Soundtracks bekannt, sondern auch für seine Filmmusiken zu sozial- und gesellschaftskritischen Filmen wie Cinema Paradiso. Dieses Konzert aus dem Jahr 2004 mit dem Münchner Rundfunkorchester ist eine der ganz wenigen Aufnahmen, auf denen er seine eigene Musik dirigiert. Es war der erste öffentliche Auftritt des Maestros als Dirigent seiner eigenen Musik in Deutschland und liegt nun erstmals auf CD vor. Das Album enthält eine repräsentative Auswahl seiner bekanntesten Filmmusiken, darunter The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, A Fistful of Dynamite, Once Upon a Time in America, Cinema Paradiso, Die Unbestechlichen und viele mehr.
