Es war ein gigantisches Livespektakel als vor gut drei Jahren niemand Geringeres als Alan Parsons und seine Band The Alan Parsons Project für ein Konzert ins kolumbianische Medellín kamen.
Das Besondere an ihrer Performance: Neben Akustik- und E-Gitarre, Keyboard, Schlagzeug, Bass, Saxofon und Percussions hatte die Band noch 70 weitere Musiker im Schlepptau. Und nicht nur das – ein Ton- und Kamerateam war ebenfalls zugegen.

Am Abend des 31. August 2013 versammelte sich eine große Menschenmenge am Parque Pies Descalzos in Medellín, Kolumbien.
Grund war der Auftritt des britischen Rockers Alan Parsons zusammen mit dem Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra unter der Leitung des Dirigenten Alejandro Posada. Ebenfalls auf der Bühne: Parsons Band, bestehend aus P. J. Olsson (Gesang), Alastair Greene (Gitarre, Gesang), Guy Erez (Bass, Gesang), Danny Thompson (Schlagzeug, Gesang), Tom Brooks (Keyboard, Gesang) und Todd Cooper (Saxofon, Gitarre, Percussion, Gesang).
Mit »The Alan Parsons Symphonic Project: Live In Colombia« gibt es dieses einmalige Konzert jetzt in Bild und Ton.
Im Alter von gerade einmal 19 Jahren bekam Alan Parson einen Job als Tontechniker in den legendären Londoner Abbey Road Studios. Dort wirkte er unter anderem an den letzten Alben der Beatles mit – das Sprungbrett für eine große Zukunft in der Musikwelt. Es folgten Zusammenarbeiten mit Pink Floyd, Al Stewart, Steve Harley und John Miles.
Zudem gründete Parsons 1975 mit Eric Woolfson seine eigene Band: The Alan Parsons Project. Bis zur Auflösung 1987 veröffentlichten sie gemeinsam zehn Alben. 2009 verstarb Woolfson.
Nach der Trennung der Band wollte Parsons seine Musik allerdings weiterhin auf die internationalen Bühnen bringen, was er auch tat. Im Falle von »The Alan Parsons Symphonic Project: Live In Colombia« gemeinsam mit seiner Band und einem 70-köpfigen Symphonieorchester.
Zusammen erweckten sie viele alte Alan-Parsons-Project-Klassiker zu neuem Leben, darunter die Hits »Eye In The Sky«, »Lucifer«, »Games People Play«, »The Raven«, »Sirius«, »Eye In The Sky« und »Don’t Answer Me«.
Diese und viele weitere Livesongs gibt es jetzt mit »The Alan Parsons Symphonic Project: Live In Colombia« auf Doppel-CD, drei LPs, DVD und Blu-ray Disc.
