Der Vibraphonist Milt Jackson war in der Bebop-Ära ein häufiger Gast bei Blue Note-Sessions. Als Teil der sagenumwobenen 1500er Serie, die 1956 begann, brachte das Label die 12"-Kompilation "Milt Jackson and The Thelonious Monk Quintet" heraus, die Jacksons 10"-LP "Wizard of the Vibes" um Stücke aus den Jahren 1948 und 1951 unter der Leitung von Monk erweiterte.

Das Albumcover war das erste, das von Reid Miles entworfen wurde.
Diese Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition wurde von Kevin Gray von den originalen Masterbändern gemastert und auf 180g Vinyl bei Optimal gepresst.
