Es ist das Kernstück einer Trilogie mit einem Quintett, zu dem auch Ray Barretts Congas gehören. Das Quintett liefert eine hervorragende Leistung beim bluesigen Titeltrack, einem der beliebtesten, sowie bei der romantischen Ballade „Autumn Nocturne“ und anderen.
Lou Donaldson hatte bereits sieben Blue Note-Sessions geleitet, als er 1958 sein unbestrittenes Meisterwerk »Blues Walk« aufnahm. Zusammen mit dem Saxophonisten spielten Herman Foster am Klavier, Peck Morrison am Bass, Dave Bailey am Schlagzeug und Ray Barretto an den Congas sechs Songs ein, die mit dem coolen Titeltrack eines seiner denkwürdigsten Themen lieferten.
Diese Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition ist in Stereo, komplett analog, von Kevin Gray von den Original-Masterbändern gemastert und auf 180g Vinyl bei Optimal gepresst.
