My Point of View ist das bemerkenswert sichere zweite Album des Pianisten und Komponisten Herbie Hancock für Blue Note. Diese Session aus dem Jahr 1963 mit einem Programm von Hancock-Kompositionen hat eine wunderbare All-Star-Besetzung: Donald Byrd an der Trompete, Hank Mobley am Tenorsaxophon, Grachan Moncur III an der Posaune, Grant Green an der Gitarre, Chuck Israels am Bass und Tony Williams am Schlagzeug, der zum Zeitpunkt dieser Aufnahme erst 17 Jahre alt war. Die schiere Musikalität von My Point of View ist atemberaubend, und Hancock demonstriert seine Fähigkeiten als Arrangeur. Während "Blind Man, Blind Man" an Hancocks früheren Hit "Watermelon Man" angelehnt ist, enthält diese Session auch wirklich wesentliche Hancock-Kompositionen wie "King Cobra", "A Tribute To Someone" und das bluesige "And What If I Don't".
