Zum 200. Geburtstag von Bedřich Smetana: Eine Gesamtausgabe seiner Opern erstmals auf CD
Unter den Werken von Bedřich Smetana stehen die Opern neben dem Zyklus der symphonischen Dichtungen Má vlast als Dreh- und Angelpunkt des Schaffens des Komponisten im Vordergrund. Insgesamt neun Opern, von denen die letzte unvollendet blieb, zeugen von der dramatischen Begabung und Individualität des Komponisten.
In der Geschichte des Labels Supraphon sind eine Reihe von Smetana-Opernaufnahmen entstanden, die von Generationen tschechischer Sängerinnen und Sänger interpretiert wurden, die hauptsächlich auf der Bühne des Prager Nationaltheaters auftraten. Das erste und einzige Mal, dass Smetanas Opern von Supraphon als Gesamteinspielung auf LP veröffentlicht wurden, war im Rahmen eines umfangreichen vierteiligen Projekts, das Smetanas Gesamtwerk umfasste und im Jahr der tschechischen Musik zwischen 1984 und 1985 erschien. Diese repräsentative Zusammenstellung enthielt die Aufnahmen aus den 1960er bis 1980er Jahren, die jedoch mit Ausnahme der Verkauften Braut derzeit nicht als physisches Produkt auf dem Markt erhältlich sind. Zu den bis heute unübertroffenen Aufnahmen der Verkauften Braut und des Geheimnisses unter der Leitung von Zdeněk Košler kommt seine außergewöhnliche Inszenierung von Libuše aus dem Jahr 1983 anlässlich der Wiedereröffnung des Prager Nationaltheaters hinzu. Außerdem enthalten ist die einzige Supraphon-Aufnahme der Brandenburger in Böhmen unter der Leitung von Jan Hus Tichý, Zdeněk Chalabalas immer noch maßgebliche Lesart von Die Teufelsmauer und Dalibor unter der Leitung von Jaroslav Krombholc.
Die luxuriöse 17CD-Box enthält sieben separat verpackte 2CD-Sets sowie ein 3CD-Set mit ausführlichen Informationen zu den einzelnen Opern, einem 40-seitigen Booklet mit einer umfassenden Studie, einer reichhaltigen Fotodokumentation und einem Link zu den herunterladbaren Libretti in tschechischer und englischer Sprache.
