The Smithereens sind Pat DiNizio, Jim Babjak, Mike Mesaros und Dennis Diken. Sie tauchen tief in ihr Archiv ein und stellen Covers zu Ehren von Künstlern vor, die durch ihre Songs großen Einfluss auf die Karriere der Band nahmen. Präsentiert wird eine große Portion großartiger Musik als Hommage an die wegbereitenden, britischen Künstler The Kinks, The Beatles, The Who und T. Rex.
Zudem beinhaltet das Album auch Covers von legendären Musikern wie Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra, Iggy Pop, The Beach Boys und vielen weiteren. Bekannt sind The Smithereens für ihre eingängigen Power Pop Kompositionen mit Einflüssen aus den 1960ern.
Ihre Bekanntheit stieg mit der Single »Blood and Roses« auf ihrem ersten Album, die als Soundtrack für »Dangerously Close« diente und deren Musikvideo auf MTV rauf und runter gespielt wurde. Im Verlauf ihrer Karriere erreichte die Band mit ihren Alben zweimal Platin und einmal Gold.
