The Smithereens gingen damals in die Crystal Sound Studios NYC, um ein neues Album für ihr eigenes Label zu schreiben und aufzunehmen. Das Ergebnis dieses einmonatigen Aufnahmemarathons ist dieses Album, das bis ins Jahr 2022, knapp drei Dekaden lang, der Welt verborgen blieb. Der Titel dieser ominösen Platte kann nahezu gar nicht mehr anders lauten, als »Lost Album«.
