Für das Album konnte Tony Visconti (Bowie, T. Rex) als Produzent verpflichtet werden. ›Ghostown‹ wurde 1978 veröffentlicht, und musikalisch bewegte sich die Band mit diesem zweiten Album nach ›TV Tube Heart‹ stärker in Richtung New Wave und Mainstream.
Das Album gilt unter Kritikern als eines der definitiven irischen Alben neben Van Morrisons ›Astral Weeks‹. 50er und 60er Referenzen treffen auf irischer Historie, die in den Texten verarbeitet wird.
Also ähnlich so, wie es Radiators-Sänger Philip Chevron auch später bei den Pogues tat. 40th Anniversary Edition mit zwei CDs und nun mehr 45 Tracks!
