The Everly Brothers gingen als US-amerikanisches Gitarren- und Gesangsduo der Prä-Beatles-Ära in die Popgeschichte ein. Bis 1973 traten die Everly-Brüder Don und Phil als Duo auf; nach einer Trennungszeit von rund zehn Jahren arbeiteten sie seit 1983 wieder gemeinsam im Studio und auf der Bühne.
Das Duo erreichte mit sieben Songs die Spitze der US-amerikanischen und/oder britischen Single-Charts: Sie mischten den Stil ihrer Folk-, Bluegrass- und Hillbilly-Country-Musik-Herkunft mit zeitgenössischem Rock ›n‹ Roll und kreierten mit ihrem harmoniebetonten, zweistimmigen Gesang einen eigenen Popsound, der so erfolgreichen Künstlern wie den Beatles, Beach Boys, Hollies oder Simon & Garfunkel neben vielen anderen als Vorbild diente.

Shockingly, as the legend goes, »Bye Bye Love« was rejected by more than 30 singers and groups before the Everlys agreed to record it, and the rest is history. Yet another required piece of early rock and roll from Rumble.
