Esoteric Recordings widmet sich der Wiederveröffentlichung des kompletten Backkatalogs der legendären Classic Rock Band SKY. 1979 gegründet, brachte Sky die Welten der Rock Musik und Klassik auf äußerst erfolgreiche und inspirierende Art und Weise zusammen. Die talentierten Musiker – Gitarrist John Williams, Percussionist Tristan Fry, der legendäre Bassist Herbie Flowers, der frühere Curved Air Keyboarder Francis Monkman und Gitarrist Kevin Peek – nahmen ihr Debütalbum 1979 in den Abbey Road Studios auf. Das selbstbetitelte Debüt erreichte die UK Top Ten und später Platinstatus und hatte auch in Europa und Australien großen Erfolg. 1980 folgte »SKY 2«, das die Hit-Single »Toccata« hervor brachte.
In 1981 wurde Francis Monkman von Steve Gray an den Keyboards ersetzt und die Band blieb weiterhin erfolgreich.
Als sich John Williams 1983 verabschiedete, machte die Band als Quartett weiter und nahm 1985 das Album »The Great Balloon Race« in Studios in Australien und London auf.
