Santana's Shango was another successful venture for the legendary guitarist Devadip Carlos Santana. Along with his band of renown and the incredible return of veteran Santana and Journey co-founder Greg Rolie, Shango was a rocking musical festival worthy of its gold and platinum status.
Featuring the stunning vocals of Alex Ligertwood, Shango brought home two more smash hit singles to the Santana catalog with the Latin infused Hold On, which interestingly has a futuristic nod to his Supernatural sound and the equally popular Russ Ballard composition Nowhere To Run.
It is no secret that Santana has always had a knack for interpreting fine music and making it their own, thus illustrated here with Jr. Walker's classic What Does It Take (To Win Your Love). Now filled with exotic rhythms, the familiar Santana groove and the vocals of Alex Ligertwood with Devadip Carlos Santana's lead guitar, it was truly a highlight of this 1982 release.
Friday Music is very proud and honored to be offering this incredible Santana album Shango. For this special anniversary edition, we have gone back to the original Columbia Records tapes and remastered this wonderful album especially for this celebration.
