»Fantastic Planet« ist das bewegende und sich gen Himmel
erstreckende neue Album von NOVELLER, dem instrumentellen
Soloprojekt der in Austin ansässigen Komponistin und Regisseurin
Sarah Lipstate. Die LP ist eine Reise durch eine eklektische
Soundlandschaft, in der Flutwellen aus Synthesizern auf
cinematische Gitarrenlinien treffen und den Hörer durch das bisher
fesselndste NOVELLER Album führen.
Was als selbstdefiniertes EGitarren
Projekt begann, als Lipstate 2005 in Texas studierte,
landete schließlich in Brooklyn und mischte die Liveszene von New
York aber auch international auf. Lipstate teilte sich Bühnen mit SIX
ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE, ST. VINCENT, XIU XIU, THE JESUS
LIZARD, U.S. GIRLS, AIDAN BAKER und EMERALDS und ließ sich
von der Presse in aller Welt mit Lorbeeren behängen. Neben ihren
eigenen Alben »Desert Fires« und »Glacial Glow« auf ihrem eigenen
Sublabel Saffron Recordings nahm sie mit UNFACT (mit David Sims
von JESUS LIZARD) eine Split-LP auf und hat überdies mit Carla
Bozulich (EVANGELISTA, THE GERALDINE FIBBERS), Lee Ranaldo
(SONIC YOUTH) und JG Thirlwell (FOETUS, MANOREXIA)
gearbeitet.
Sie war Mitglied von COLD CAVE, PARTS&LABOR und
ONE UMBRELLA. Nach ihrer Rückkehr nach Texas suchte Lipstate
nach einer Erweiterung ihrer cinematischen Soundlandschaften und
realisierte diese schließlich auf »Fantastic Planet«.
