Der US-Gitarrist spielte in den 60ern eine maßgebliche Rolle in der Entwicklung des Bluesrocks und ›elektrischen‹ Folks. So spielte er Gitarre u. a. bei Dylans berüchtigtem Auftritt beim 1965er Newport Folk Festival sowie auf dessen Album ›Highway 61 Revisited‹. Die vorliegende Compilation enthält 15 Tracks, die er teils als Solokünstler für John Hammond einspielte, und teils als Mitglied von Electric Flag sowie der Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
