Two Top 10 hits in the UK in 1959, and two more discs in the Top 20, all of which were both Hot 100 and R&B smash hits in the USA - such was the impact of Lloyd Price in the twilight of the rock'n'roll era. Personality (the song which provided his nickname) and Stagger Lee feature in this album along with the other UK hits Where Were You On Our Wedding Day and I'm Gonna Get Married, plus several of his hits on ABC Records from the US charts including his first, Just Because, and last, Question.
Lloyd Price first came to fame with R&B chart-topper Lawdy Miss Clawdy on Specialty in 1952, this song becoming a classic of the rock'n'roll era and featuring in the stage shows of Elvis Presley and the Beatles, and his ABC version of his hit is included here. Lloyd continued to record on various labels into the soul era, while also building a business empire which sells a variety of food, clothing and music products.
