Gordon Lightfoot ist Kanadas gefeiertster Songwriter und eine internationale Folk-Legende. Nun kündigt er nach über einem Jahrzehnt sein neues Album Solo an - das erste Studioalbum mit neuen Songs seit dem 2004 erschienenen Harmony. Es zeigt Lightfoot pur, allein mit seiner Gitarre im Studio.
Gordon Lightfoot ist Kanadas größter Singer/Songwriter. In der Folk-Pop-Szene der 1960er und 1970er war er die Genre-definierende Persönlichkeit. Er wurde mit dem Governor General's Performing Arts Award ausgezeichnet, Kanadas größte Ehrung der Künste, und wurde zum Companion of the Order of Canada ernannt. Seine Songs sind von der kanadischen Musiklandschaft nicht mehr wegzudenken, etwa »Sundown«, »The Wreck Of Edmund Fitzgerald« und »If You Could Read My Mind«.
Lightfoot wurde in die Songwriter's Hall Of Fame sowie auf Kanadas Walk Of Fame aufgenommen. Seine Songs wurden von Künstlern wie Elvis Presley, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand, Eric Clapton und The Tragically Hip gespielt und aufgenommen.
