Nachdem sie ihre Konkurrenz bei »Popstars: The Rivals« schlugen, landete ihre Single »Sound Of The Underground« im Dezember 2002 auf Platz 1 der Weihnachts-Charts und hielt sich vier Wochen lang an der Spitze der Charts. Als das gleichnamige Album im Frühjahr 2003 erschien, löste es das Phänomen Girls Aloud aus, erreichte Platz 2 der britischen Charts und wurde innerhalb von 5 Monaten nach Veröffentlichung mit Platin ausgezeichnet.
