Nachdem Christina Perri Anfang 2018 ihre erste Tochter, Carmella, zur Welt brachte, brach eine magische Zeit für sie an. Nachdem sie 2011 von iTunes zum »Breakthrough Pop Artist« des Jahres gewählt wurde, erntete sie Applaus bei Fans und Kritik mit ihrem außergewöhnlichen Debütalbum »Lovestrong.«, angeführt vom 3-fach-Platin-Hit »Jar Of Hearts«. Das Album stürmte u. a. in den USA, Großbritannien und Deutschland die Top 10 der offiziellen Album-Charts. Nach diesem Erfolg machte Perri mit der US-Platinum-Hit-Single »A Thousand Years« dort weiter, wo sie mit »lovestrong.« aufgehört hatte: Der Song erschien exklusiv auf dem Soundtrack zum Kinoerfolg »The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1« und fungierte als dessen zweite Singleauskopplung und mischte ebenfalls die weltweiten Charts auf.
Nun, da ihre Tochter das Licht der Welt erblickte, sang Perri ihr innerhalb des letzten Jahres jeden Tag etwas vor. Daraus entstand die Idee, die liebsten Schlaflieder Carmellas auf einem Album festzuhalten: Zum ersten Geburtstag von Christinas Tochter wird »songs for carmella: Lullabies & Sing-A-Longs« erscheinen. Das Album, produziert von David Hodges (Evanescence, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Jason Mraz, Avril Lavigne) enthält ebenso den neuen Song »You Mean The Whole Wide World To Me« und eine lullaby Version von »A Thousand Years«, sowie Sing-A-Long-Versionen zu allen 10 Liedern.
