Die Surf Punks entwickelten sich aus dem was Ende der 70er Jahre in der sogenannten SoCal Beach Szene an Land gespült wurde. Das erste Album der Band erschien auf dem eigenen Day Glo Label, welches von Epic vertrieben wurde, bevor die Band dann 1982 zu Restless / Enigma wechselte. Hier erschien dann auch 1982 dieses kleine Juwel namens „Locals Only“.
