- Enthält das Studioalbum des legendären Deep Purple Gitarristen von 2009
- CD 2 mit Live-Aufnahmen eines Konzerts in Baden-Baden von 1990
Steve Morse first rose to fame in the late 1970‘s as bandleader, songwriter and guitarist for the groundbreaking instrumental band Dixie Dregs. 1983 Steve formed the trio, Steve Morse Band. The trio included Steve Morse (Guitar), Dave LaRue (Bass) and Van Romaine (Drums), creating a fusion of intoxicating rock and experimental, purely instrumental, music. The heavier direction of the trio may have resulted in Steve joining Deep Purple in late 1994.
Steve Morse is considered as one of the most accomplished musicians, playing a wide variety of genres. He is known for his stylistically diverse compositional skills and virtuosic abilities and was voted the Best Overall Guitarist by Guitar Player magazine for 5 years in a row, qualifying him for their Guitar Player Hall of Fame, the only other member being YES guitarist Steve Howe. Combining rock, country, jazz, funk and classical elements reaching an unbelievable sound spectrum the strength of Steve Morse‘s fascinating guitar riffs leaves no space for lead vocals. Based on his fabulous guitar playing, which is light years ahead of many other so called guitar heroes, the sound satisfies the listener in every aspect. In addition to a thriving solo career, he has been (and continues to be) a member of several renown bands like Deep Purple or Kansas.
After playing with Deep Purple from 1994 on, in 2009 Steve Morse joined forces again with Dave LaRue and Van Romaine to record a new Steve Morse Band album. The result was an album as multifaceted as Morse‘s career making “Out Standing In Their Field” the 12th Steve Morse Band record. The entirely instrumental album clearly reflects the remarkable talent of Steve Morse and distinguishes the influences of the artist‘s musical history. Just as on the original album added to the fantastic 10 songs is a special bonus track: the live recording of ‘Rising Power’ mirroring the unique goosebump-feeling you get when attending a live concert.
Now comes the Super Deluxe Edition of “Out Standing In Their Field” featuring a live bonus CD the trio played in Baden Baden, Germany, in 1990. Playing all of their material from past albums they also included some songs to come out on their 1991 release “Southern Steel”. With hits like ‘General Lee’, ‘Ice Cakes’ and ‘Sleaze Factor’, they truly captivated the audience like never before. This concert has never been released on CD before and is now bundled with the band’s latest studio album “Out Standing In Their Field” to build a very attractive Deluxe Edition. It is a show to remember, being just a few years prior to Morse joining Deep Purple and Kansas. (edel. com)
