Spirit was one of the most exciting young American bands to enliven the late Sixties’ rock scene. The exultant playing of teenaged lead guitarist and former Hendrix protégé Randy California sparked a group that was also powered up by the drumming of Randy’s stepfather Ed ‘Mr.Skin’ Cassidy. It was a fascinating set up that was celebrated by the title of their second album, ‘The Family That Plays Together’. First released in 1969, it proved hugely popular around the world, particularly in Germany and England. The album also spawned their debut hit single ‘I Got A Line On You’.
