Recording mostly live in her home studio with co-producer Shahzad Ismaily, Jolie relied on the spontaneity & energy of the sessions to create Pint Of Blood, an album that impresses with its originality and honesty, its inspired storytelling and impassioned performances.
With Pint Of Blood, Jolie has found a new focus to her sound - a looseness that always stays sharp, never loses the root of her work and ultimately reveals new layers in Jolie’s inimitable style.

Die New Yorkerin verfährt mit dem Americana-Erbe somit wie Neil Young und Lucinda Williams (ihr Gesangstimbre erinnert auch an Letztere). Am besten klappt dies im Psychedelic-Folktitel ,,All Those Girls", im wunderbaren Pseudo-Blues ,,Tender Mirror" und dem Cover von Townes Van Zandts todessehnsüchtigem Song ,,Rex's Blues"." ,,"All Those Girls" gibt mit seinem schlurfenden Beat und dem bei Neil Young geborgten Duktus den Ton für "Pint Of Blood" vor, und eine betörende Version von Townes Van Zandts "Rex's Blues" setzt den dramatischen Schlusspunkt. Blues, Folk, Country und Rock finden in empfindlich-unruhigen Songs wie "Tender Mirror", bei dem eine Schrammelgitarre auf ein trauriges Klavier trifft, oder dem wunderbar zögerlich inszenierten "June" zusammen."
