Im August 1970 lieferte Jimi Hendrix beim Isle Of Wight Festival vor 600000 Zuschauern eine seiner brillantesten Live-Performances ab. Der Oscar-prämierte Experimental- und Dokumentarfilmer Murray Lerner verewigte diesen Auftritt in einem legendären Musikfilm, der nun von der Experience Hendrix Foundation in einer erweiterten Fassung auf DVD neu veröffentlicht wird.

Die DVD hat eine Spielzeit von über 180 Minuten und besticht vor allem durch die "Feature"-Sektion, die es dem Zuschauer ermöglicht, den Festival-Gig aus völlig neuen Perspektiven zu erleben: Bei Songs wie "All Along The Watchtower", "Spanish Castle Magic", "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" oder "Foxey Lady" können unterschiedliche Kameraeinstellungen gewählt werden, um Jimi Hendrix' virtuoses Spiel ganz aus der Nähe zu beobachten!

Auf Jimi Hendrix At The Isle Of Wight ist auch erst kürzlich entdecktes Bild- und Tonmaterial der Live-Fassung von "Hey Joe" zu finden, dem Song, mit dem vier Jahre zuvor sein kometenhafter Aufstieg zum Superstar begonnen hatte.

Für den Soundmix (Stereo und 5.1. Surround Version) zeichnet der frühere Hendrix-Toningenieur Eddie Kramer verantwortlich.
