Grant-Lee's first solo album, Ladies' Love Oracle was recorded over three days in the basement of famed producer and sonic experimentalist Jon Brion. Here, Phillips takes the warmth and broadness of his work with band Grant Lee Buffalo and internalizes it, producing a raw, yet focused acoustic work. Harmonica and piano fill out certain tracks but only to compliment the stark skeleton created by Grant-Lee's voice and guitar.
