Veröffentlicht im September 1986. Aufgenommen wurde es teilweise in den Manor Studios in Oxfordshire, England, mit Produzent Steve Nye. Das Doppelalbum mit sieben Gesangsstücken und zehn Instrumentalstücken vermischt Persönliches mit Themen wie Gnostizismus und Alchemie und enthält Beiträge der Gitarristen Bill Nelson und Robert Fripp sowie Steve Jansen und Kenny Wheeler.
Gone to Earth ist das dritte Solo-Studioalbum von David Sylvian und erschien am 1. September 1986. Das Album besteht aus zwei Platten, darunter eine mit experimentellen Rocksongs mit Gesang und eine mit ausschließlich Ambient-Instrumentalstücken. Es erreichte Platz 24 der britischen Albumcharts.
