Erstklassige Titel (Boogie, Blues, R&B), zwischen 1951 und 1954 von Sam Phillips bei Sun Records aufgenommen. Mit allen vier Songs von Billy 'Red' Love, die er bei Sun eingespielt hat und die 1951 und 1952 bei Chess Records erschienen sind - darunter das extrem seltene, nie wiederveröffentlichte 'My Teddy Bear Baby / Poor Man'! Selbst viele Sammler haben diese Platte noch nie gesehen! Mit Loves klassischer Aufnahme von 'Juiced' - veröffentlicht unter Jackie Brenstons Namen als Folge-Single zu 'Rocket 88'. Außerdem gibt es beide Tracks einer Sun-Single, die nie zustande kam, 'Hey Now / Way After Midnight'. Love war Studio-Pianist bei Suns R&B-Sessions und einige Jahre lang Leiter von Rosco Gordons Tour-Band. Er war in der Army, öfter mal arbeitslos, spielte in Clubs und dann wieder nicht und hatte immer wieder mal mit staatlichen Ordnungskräften zu tun...: Billy Loves Leben war erfüllt, nur kurz, frustrierend und unterm Strich merkwürdig. Aber wenn er sang, komponierte, arrangierte und Klavier spielte, war er eine der Besten. Was diese CD deutlich beweist!

Includes Love's classic recording of 'Juiced', issued under the name of Jackie Brenston as the follow up to 'Rocket 88', plus both sides of the Sun single that never was - 'Hey Now / Way After Midnight'. Includes the rare promotional disc for Hart's Bakery in Memphis - 'Hart's Bread Boogie' ! 10 tracks not originally issued in the 1950s and 10 more tracks issued here for the first time! Features the cream of Memphis R&B musicians. The booklet by Martin Hawkins contains the first ever biography of Love's unusual career and amazing life.
