About the film

Edipo Re' ist eine moderne Verfilmung der antiken Tragödie, in der dieser unwissend seinen leiblichen Vater tötet und seine Mutter heiratet. Pasolini erzählt antike griechische Mythologie in archaischer nordafrikanischer Landschaft mit einer Rahmenhandlung aus der faschistischen Vorkriegszeit.
