»No Absolute Time« (1993) ist von den westafrikanischen Rhythmen beeinflusst, die Ponty bereits in »Tchokola« (1991) verwendet hatte, welcher er aber diesmal mit einem vertrauteren Musikstil und der von ihm geprägten elektronischen Musik vermischte. Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen afrikanischen Musikern markiert das Album einen Meilenstein im Crossover von Jazz, Fusion und Weltmusik.
