Das Wunder der Weihnacht hat das Bach Collegium Japan und Masaaki Suzuki seit Jahren schon begleitet, sowohl in Bachs Kantaten wie in seinem Weihnachtsoratorium und Händels Messias.

Hier hören wir den Chor einmal a cappella mit klassischem bekanntem, aber auch unbekannterem Weihnachtsrepertoire. Masato Suzuki, der Sohn von Masaaki, lockert das Programm auf mit eingestreuten Noëls variés von Louis-Claude Daquin.

Es sind Variationen über Weihnachtslieder, ein Genre, das im 18. Jahrhundert in Frankreich äußerst populär war.
