Mahan Esfahani gehört zu den profiliertesten Cembalisten unserer Zeit, der sich nicht scheut, wenn nötig, auch einmal zu polarisieren. Für seine Rückkehr zum Label HYPERION hat er eine Auswahl englischer Cembalomusik des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts eingespielt, die seinen Rang als bemerkenswerter Interpret unterstreicht. Als Instrument verwendet er dabei ein zweimanualiges Cembalo nach Carl Conrad Fleischer und zwei Kopien englischer Virginale, die alle jeweils mitteltönig gestimmt wurden.
