The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Die Münchner Philharmoniker und Sergiu Celibidache verbindet ein eindrucksvolles Erbe. Celibidache war seit 1979 insgesamt 17 Jahre lang Chefdirigent des Orchesters, in einer Zeit, in der das Orchester großes internationales Ansehen erlangte und weltberühmt wurde. Celibidache ließ bewusst nur sehr wenige kommerzielle Aufnahmen zu (und die stammen aus den 1950er Jahren). Paradoxerweise erlaubte er jedoch, dass seine Konzerte im Rundfunk übertragen, gefilmt und archiviert wurden und dass auch die Proben aufgezeichnet wurden, so dass wir noch heute die Arbeit des Maestros verfolgen können.
