Die Mischform zwischen sinfonischer und vokaler Musik war seit jeher ein typisches Merkmal des russischen Nationalstils, und anhand dieser beeindruckenden 11-CD-Box wird das Thema erstmals gründlich aufbereitet und dargelegt.
Die Auswahl der Stücke reicht von frühen Beispielen von Rimsky-Korsakow und Tanejew über bekannte Beispiele von Rachmaninow (z. B. Die Glocken), Prokofiew (z. B. Alexander Nevsky-Kantate) und Schostakowitsch (Aus jüdischer Volkspoesie, Lied von den Wäldern) bis hin zu hierzulande kaum bekannten Werken jüngeren Datums von Georgij Sviridov und Rostislaw Boiko. Wir schon bei den beiden anderen Boxen steht der Name des legendären Dirigenten Evgeny Svetlanov für die herausragende Qualität und die überbordende Repertoirefülle dieser einzigartigen Edition, die nun mit der Veröffentlichung dieser dritten Box der Reihe ihren Abschluss findet.
