Der polnische Pianist und Komponist Tadeusz Majerski (1888-1963) schrieb einige der interessantesten polnischen Werke seiner Zeit, in denen er spätromantische Empfindsamkeit und die harmonische Freiheit der Schönbergschen Moderne miteinander verband, wobei der emotionale Ausdruck stets im Vordergrund stand.

Majerski verbrachte sein ganzes Leben in Lwow (heute Lemberg in der Ukraine) und ist daher trotz seiner musikalischen Bedeutung fast völlig aus dem Blickfeld geraten. Dieses erste seinem Werk gewidmete Album präsentiert eine seiner wichtigsten Partituren, das rhapsodische Concerto-Poem für Klavier und Orchester, sowie zwei kraftvolle Kammermusikwerke und eine Reihe repräsentativer Klavierminiaturen.

Michal Drewnowski ist der Pianist, der Majerski entdeckt hat und ihn in der Welt bekannt macht - eine Aufgabe, zu der diese Veröffentlichung ihren Teil beiträgt.
