My Fair Lady
The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Scarlett Strallen und Jamie Parker sind Eliza Doolittle und Professor Higgins in dieser Weltpremiere der vollständigen Aufnahme von »My Fair Lady«. John Wilson dirigiert die Sinfonia of London. John Wilson kommentiert: »My Fair Lady« ist das amerikanische London-Musical schlechthin. Es gibt keine einzige falsche Note oder ein falsches Semikolon. Steven Wilkie, einer der Geiger in meinem Orchester, beschreibt es als ›Die Hochzeit des Figaro‹ des 20. Jahrhunderts. Und als ich den großen Operndirigenten Richard Bonynge fragte, was die besten Opern nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg seien, antwortete er: ›My Fair Lady, Oklahoma! … Das sind die großen Opern, die weiterleben werden‹.«
Wir haben jede Note aufgenommen, einschließlich der Untermalung, sowie alle Musikstücke, die geschrieben, aber vor der Premiere gestrichen wurden, mit genau derselben Instrumentierung wie am Premierenabend. Dank neuerer Forschungen verfügen wir außerdem über die restaurierten Originalorchestrierungen. Der Grund, warum ich alles aufnehmen möchte, was der Komponist, der Texter, der Buchautor und der Orchestrator geschaffen haben, ist, dass ich glaube, dass es sich um ein bedeutendes Werk von Menschen handelt, die Meister ihres Fachs waren. Das wurde nicht an einem Nachmittag geschrieben, sondern über Monate hinweg ausgefeilt. Sie waren gnadenlos darin, alles zu streichen, was ihrer Meinung nach nicht gut genug war. Wir haben die Pflicht, ihre letzten Gedanken zu ihrem Werk so genau wie möglich festzuhalten.
