Jubiläum des Royal Scottish National Orchestra widmet sich Peter Oundjian zwei ungewöhnlichen Werken von John Adams und holte sich dazu das allseits beliebte und vielprämierte Doric String Quartet mit ins Boot. Naive and Sentimenal Music heißt eines der beiden Werke, welches dem Dirigenten Esa-Pekka Salonen gewidmet ist, sich mit Friedrich Schillers Essay »Über naive und sentimentalistische Dichtung« auseinandersetzt. Absolute Jest für präpariertes Streichquartett und Orchester, das zweite eingespielte Werk, reflektiert die besonders Virtuosen Quartette Beethovens, den Adams seit jeher sehr bewundert.
