Die 1. und 4. Symphonie von Sibelius erklingen hier in bisher nicht veröffentlichten Liveaufnahmen aus den frühen 1960er Jahren und sind bedeutende Ergänzungen der Diskographie Thomas Jensens. Als junger Cellist hatte Jensen unter dem Dirigat sowohl von Nielsen wie von Sibelius gespielt, und deshalb haben seine Interpretationen ihrer Symphonien besondere Autorität. Er zeigt Respekt vor der Partitur bei tiefem Eintauchen in ihre Mysterien.
