Mit "Wood on the Tracks" präsentiert das britische Celloquartett Cellophonics sein Debütalbum. Das Programm verbindet eigens für das Ensemble entstandene Werke mit Wiederentdeckungen des Repertoires für vier Violoncelli und umfasst zahlreiche Ersteinspielungen. Zu den wiederentdeckten Werken zählen York Bowens "Suite for Four Cellos", deren Manuskript von Cellophonics-Mitglied Ben Rogerson im Nachlass seines Großvaters wiederentdeckt wurde, William Alwyns "Two Irish Tunes for Cello Quartet" sowie Marie Dares "Six Pieces for Cello Quartet". Ergänzt werden sie durch Auftragskompositionen von Roderick Elms, Julia Simpson, Rowland Sutherland, Guy Barker und Simon Baggs, die das klangliche Spektrum des Celloquartetts auf ganz unterschiedliche Weise ausloten. Cellophonics besteht aus Christopher Allan, Adrian Bradbury, Ian Burdge und Ben Rogerson. Mit "Wood on the Tracks" erweitert das Ensemble das Repertoire für vier Violoncelli um eine Reihe neuer Werke und macht zugleich lange vergessene Kompositionen wieder zugänglich.
