Barry Douglas hat sich seit dem Gewinn der Goldmedaille beim Internationalen Tschaikowsky-Klavierwettbewerb 1986 in Moskau eine bedeutende internationale Karriere aufgebaut. Als gefragter Solist, Konzertpianist und Kammermusiker ist er mit den meisten der weltweit führenden Orchester aufgetreten. Als künstlerischer Leiter der Camerata Ireland, dem einzigen gesamtirischen Orchester, und des Clandeboye Festivals zelebriert er sein irisches Erbe. »Celtic Nocturne« vereint Nocturnes von John Field, traditionelle irische Melodien und drei Kompositionen von Barry Douglas selbst, die alle den für irische Musik charakteristischen lyrischen, melodischen Charakter teilen.
