Happy Birthday Tanglewood – Sommerfestival: 75. Jubliäum
1936 gab das damals von Sergei Alexandrowitsch Kussewizki geleitetete Boston Symphony Orchestra in Tanglewood sein erstes Open-Air-Konzert und nutzte die Örtlichkeit ab 1937 fortan als Sommerdomizil. Das Tangelwood Sommerfestival ist eines der bekanntesten Musikfestivals der USA, und das Tanglewood Music Centre eine weltbekannte Bildungsstätte für angehende Profimusiker. Das Fest-Konzert zum 75. Geburtstag versammelt Superstars der Klassik wie Yo-Yo Ma, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Andris Nelsons, das Boston Symphony Orchestra und Emanuel Ax. Geladen waren auch Künstler wie Grammy Award Winner James Taylor, die Filmmusik Legende John Williams (Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, E. T. etc.) und das Boston Pops Orchestra.

Die vorliegende Veröffentlichung enthält die erste Aufnahme des Boston Symphony Orchestra mit seinem neuen Chefdirigenten Andris Nelsons inkl. der Dokumentationen »The History of Tanglewood« und »John Williams on Tanglewood« (in englischer und deutscher Sprachversion).
