stereoplay 7/95: »Es ist wieder Hickoxs lebenspralle Interpretation, die vom ersten Takt an für Tippetts klassisch geprägten Erstling von 1944/45 einnimmt. Hickox versteht es, Strukturen deutlich zu machen, kleine Details liebevoll zu beleuchten, ohne den Blick für das Ganze zu verlieren. Höhepunkte werden mit zwingender Intensität angesteuert, und doch bleibt immer die entspannt-gelöste Atmosphäre seiner musikalisch-geprägten Interpretation erhalten. Das Bounemouth Symphony Orchestra klingt ausgesprochen homogen und sonor. Ein übriges tut die ausgezeichnete Aufnahmetechnik. Hickoxs Tippett-Zyklus entpuppt sich als großer Wurf.«- Tracklisting
