Sammlung in zwei Folgen vertont. Die ersten Six Songs erschienen 1911, ein Jahr später folgte mit Bredon Hill and Other
Songs der Rest. Die nostalgischen Gedichte gewinnen durch Butterworths Vertonung eine Melancholie, die vor dem
Hintergrund seines frühen Todes in der Schlacht von Somme im Jahre 1916, umso schmerzlicher zu sein scheint. In seinen
