Behrooz Ghamari: Remembering Akbar, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

A haunting novel of memory, resistance, and survival inside one of the world's most notorious prisons.

Inspired by the author's own experiences as a political prisoner in post-revolutionary Iran, Remembering Akbar follows a group of inmates awaiting execution in Tehran's Evin Prison. Through the voice of Akbar-a prisoner whose mordant wit and extraordinary memory sustain both himself and those around him-their stories emerge as acts of defiance against violence, repression, and historical erasure.

Blending autobiography with fiction, Behrooz Ghamari-Tabrizi recreates a world in which friendship, humor, and remembrance become forms of resistance. Rather than reducing revolution to ideology or imprisonment to despair, Remembering Akbar illuminates the everyday lives, contradictions, and enduring humanity of those caught in history's upheavals.

This new edition features a timely introduction by the author reflecting on Iran today and the enduring relevance of the novel in an era of renewed conflict and global attention on the region.
