But Ben Murphy isn't convinced. He sided with his family over his friend (and secret crush) when her father was ousted from the force, and he's regretted it ever since. On leave from the Boston PD, Ben joins Norah's investigation, even though operating outside his jurisdiction might get him fired.

But it's not easy, proving that the Labrador Falls police are barking up the wrong tree. Despite a pack of suspicious suspects, Norah and Ben are much closer to catching feelings than a catching a killer. And the nearer they get, the more dogged determination they'll need to come through unscathed...
