Biografie
Hugh Laurie, geboren 1959 als Sohn eines olympischen Goldmedaillengewinners im Rudern, studierte in Cambridge, wo er Stephen Fry kennenlernte. Gemeinsam bildeten die beiden ein höchst erfolgreiches Comedy-Duo in der BBC-Sketch-Serie »A Bit of Fry and Laurie«, für die Laurie auch das Drehbuch schrieb. An der Seite von Rowan Atkinson spielte er in der Serie »Blackadder«. Auf der Kinoleinwand war er in Komödien wie »Stuart Little« oder »101 Dalmatiner« zu sehen. In der Rolle des Dr. House in der gleichnamigen TV-Serie wurde er endgültig zur gefeierten Kultfigur. »Bockmist« ist sein erster Roman, dabei wollte er eigentlich bloß ein Tagebuch schreiben. Nach ein paar Wochen mit Einträgen wie »EastEnders gesehen, ein Stück Kuchen gegessen, Kinder gebadet« war er jedoch so gelangweilt von seinem eigenen Leben, dass er beschloss, ein Leben zu erfinden, das mit seinem rein gar nichts zu tun hat
