Produziert von Jackson Browne. »Excitable Boy« ist das dritte Album von WARREN ZEVON, das ursprünglich 1978 erschien. Mit dabei ist der Top 40 Hits »Werewolves Of London« mit Mick Fleetwood am Schlagzeug und John McVie am Bass.
Das Album bescherte WARREN kommerzielle Aufmerksamkeit und verkaufte sich am besten in seiner Karriere. Das historische »Veracruz« handelt von der amerikanischen Besetzung von Veracruz, während sich »Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner« die fiktive Geschichte eines Söldners in Afrika ist. »Lawyers, Guns And Money« dreht sich auf ironische Art und Weise um die Paranoia während des Zweiten Weltkrieges.
