Brit-Pop-Ikone Jarvis Cocker führte ab 2010 für mehrere Jahre durch die jeden Sonntag von BBC Radio ausgestrahlte zwei-stündige Radio-Show »Sunday Service«. Dass die von ihm hierfür gewählten Tracks weniger kommerzielle Ausrichtung hatten als dass es anspruchsvolle Nischen-Songs mit Entdeckungs-Potential waren, darf bei der Vita des Sängers vorausgesetzt werden.
Nun hat Jarvis Cocker erstmalig 23 Songs für eine Compilation auf Ace Records zusammengestellt die erahnen lässt, was für musikalisch spannende Sendungen von ihm kuratiert wurden. Da trifft »Snowed In« von Tim Rose auf die Voverversion von Gary Newman's »Cars« von The Katzenjammers, oder Cabaret Voltaire auf The King's Singers, Nina Simone, Art Garfunkel oder Antony & The Johnsons.
Und weil es so schön ist, erscheint »Music From Jarvis Cocker's Sunday Service« auch als 180 Gr. Doppel-LP (schwarzes Vinyl) mit anderem Artwork!
