Cherry Red Records freut sich, die neu remasterte Veröffentlichung von Toyahs 1982er Silver-Selling-Album "The Changeling" anzukündigen. Mit dieser Veröffentlichung wird das Wiederveröffentlichungsprogramm von Toyahs gesamtem Safari Records-Katalog fortgesetzt.
Produziert von dem gefeierten Steve Lillywhite, besteht das Album aus Toyah Willcox (Gesang), Joel Bogen (Gitarre), dem verstorbenen Phil Spalding (Bass) und dem verehrten Simon Phillips (Schlagzeug). Das Album enthält außerdem Gastsynthesizer/Keyboards von Andy Clark (David Bowie's Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps), Mitglied von Be Bop Deluxe) und Simon Darlow. Die Bläsersektion von Haircut 100 ist ebenfalls auf Street Creature zu hören.
The Changeling ist der düstere, erwachsenere Nachfolger des Gold-Albums Anthem aus dem Vorjahr. The Changeling stieg im Juni 1982 in die UK Top 40 ein und erreichte Platz 6. Das Album hielt sich zwölf Wochen in den Charts und wurde mit Silber ausgezeichnet.
Dem Album ging die Single Brave New World voraus, die von einem Video unter der Regie von David Mallet begleitet wurde, das an Bowies solarisierte Ashes To Ashes-Promo erinnerte, jedoch mit Toyahs einzigartigem und denkwürdigem Haar, Make-up und Auftritt. Das Album enthält außerdem den beliebten Fan-Favoriten Angel & Me, das dramatische, an einen Horrorfilm erinnernde The Packt und das unwiderstehlich melodische, mitreißende Dawn Chorus.
The Changeling wurde von Nick Watson von den Original-Masterbändern neu gemastert, von Joel Bogen abgesegnet und zusätzlich von Steve Lillywhite unterstützt.
