»Third World Pyramid« ist das erste Album, das in Gänze in Anton Newcombes neuem Cobra Studio in Berlin aufgenommen und gemischt wurde. Es ist das 15. Album von The Brian Jonestown Massacre und wurde im Frühjahr 2016 mit den Musikern Ricky Maymi, Dan Allaire, Joel Gion, Collin Hegna und Ryan Van Kriedt eingespielt. Emil Nikolaisen von der norwegischen Band Serena-Maneesh unterstützt TBJM auf diesem Album ebenfalls. Außerdem an den Vocals: Tess Parks und Katy Lane.
Anton Newcombe war in den zwei Jahren seit der Veröffentlichung des umjubelten Albums »Revelation« im Mai 2014 sehr beschäftigt. Nach einer erfolgreichen England- und Europa-Tour, veröffentlichten BJM die »+-«- EP (November 2014). 2015 kam das Album »Musique de Film imaginé« (April); ein Soundtrack für einen ausgedachten Film, der den Song »Bonbon« enthielt, der ironischerweise im Film »Dheepan« verwendet wurde, der 2015 die Goldene Palme in Cannes gewann. Im Juni gingen Anton und Tess Parks auf eine erfolgreiche Tour zum Duett Album »I Declare Nothing«. Anton schloss 2015 mit dem BJM Mini-Album »Mini-Album Thingy Wingy« ab.
