Von allen Bands der New Wave of British Heavy Metal Bewegung haben Samson den absoluten »hätte/wäre/könnte« Preis abgeräumt. Die Band hatte mit ihrem Gitarristen Paul Samson, der Bernie Tormé bei der Band Scrapyard ersetzte, bevor er Samson gründete, sowie einem gewissen »Bruce Bruce« auch bekannt als Bruce Dickinson als Sänger viel Potential. Viele Plattenfirmen machten der Band nach der Aufnahme von »Shock Tactics« mit dem AC/DC Produzenten Tony Platt großartige Angebote, aber als Bruce Dickinson ausstieg, um Sänger bei Iron Maiden zu werden, zogen alle Labels ihre Angebote zurück.
